6-Days of Trekking Umbwe Route
6-Days of Trekking Umbwe Route
Date Expired !
Overview
The Umbwe route, although less popular, is gaining recognition for its unique features. While previously considered challenging, it remains suitable for many hikers, despite its steeper incline in the initial days. Starting from the southern side of Mount Kilimanjaro, it merges with the Lemosho and Machame routes on the third day before reaching the Barranco Wall. One notable aspect of the Umbwe route is the sparse presence of other trekkers during the first two days. It offers both 6 and 7-day itineraries, with the latter being recommended for beginners lacking prior acclimatization. Overall, it offers breathtaking scenery, showcasing some of Kilimanjaro’s finest views, while allowing trekkers to experience its diverse climatic zones and observe unique flora and fauna.
